Good evening
I hope everyone is doing well. To say our nation is facing a crisis is an understatement. This isn’t about being a Republican or a Democrat, being liberal or conservative. Nor is this a message to place blame. This call to action has to do with helping those in need, especially our most vulnerable people.
As a result of the government shutdown numerous services have been cut. This will only get worse unless both sides come together in Washington D.C. and put an end to this. As of November 1st all benefits paid under the SNAP program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) will stop. While this service is run by both the Federal and State governments all monies come from the Federal government The Federal government has no plans at this time to use any emergency funds to keep the program running after November 1st.. SNAP assists 42 million Americans to purchase food. Amongst those 42 million Americans are many of our students and their families here in Amityville.
What I’m asking of everyone is to take the time to call or email his/her Congress person in the House of Representatives. Tell them to return to Washington D.C. where members of the Senate are meeting. Tell them to go and do their job which is to work out their differences and run the nation, our nation. If not then there will be a lot of hungry Americans in Amityville as well as across the country. We’ve provided you with links and phone numbers below. Thank you and please make your voices heard.
